Piece of my Heart was written at Georgia State shortly before transferring to UGA. It describes a particular time when things weren't necessarily hashed out the way I'd hoped they would. For this reason, I wrote this song telling myself that I wouldn't let the situation get the better of me.
lyrics
“Piece of My Heart"
Verse 1:
A charging army and your gun runs out
You stand alone and now you’re filled with doubt
You run away, you run away
A flashin image of the ones you love
They stand behind and no no
You’re not alone, Your not alone
Chorus:
I wonder why it’s been so hard
I’ve been smiling while I’m fallin’ apart
But you’ll never get a piece of my heart
Verse 2:
The fire burns a hole in my soul
As I sit beneath a corner on a uneven stone
The sun sunk and scattered the sky
But the stars never seemed so bright so bright
And I wonder why it’s been so hard
I’ve been smiling while I’m fallin’ apart
But you’ll never get a piece of my heart (
No you’ll never get a piece of my heart my heart
Bridge:
And I’ve walked taken chances
I’ve walked this concrete
I’ve seen my soul be a slave to my body
And I’m watchin the street lights as they shine
But I’m starin at the stars starin at the stars behind
Chorus:
I wonder why it’s been so hard
I’ve been smilin’ while I’m fallin apart
But you’ll never get a piece of my heart
No you’ll never get a piece of my heart my heart
